Taipure

These are coastal fishing areas customarily of special significance to iwi or hapu as a source of food or for spiritual/cultural reasons that can be set up under the Fisheries Act 1996. A management committee nominated by tangata whenua can then propose regulations for management of all fishing within those areas.
